Game Change: It’s like The Social Network of 2012…
Except Sarah Palin is Mark Zuckerberg and The entire McCain Campaign Team is Eduardo Saverin.
OMG! This HBO movie was soooo good. Four quick points:
1. Julianne Moore is better at playing Palin than Tina Fey!
2. DANNY STRONG (of Buffy fame) is the screenwriter. I’m SO proud of him. He did such a great job!
3. Although I detest Palin and her politics, I think I did gain a newfound appreciation for the unique pressures and difficult circumstances she faced during this campaign. I don’t forgive her anything, but I think Danny’s portrayal of her was fair in simultaneously showing her humanity and vulnerability.
I think her power comes from charisma, and her success shows us how, sadly, our society has changed from a culture of character to a culture of personality; where commercial viability, not substance, is what wins votes and garners attention.
4. This quote:

Nicolle’s faith in the Republican Party was so shattered by Sarah Palin (and the campaign) that she couldn’t even bring herself to participate in this basic civic privilege.

Blog Rewind: In honor of our birthday, Q.L.M. is reblogging some of our favorite posts from yesteryear! This was my first really big “hit.” I’ve always been partial to song parodies and I was really impressed by the passion and creativity surrounding the Jewnicorn fandom when I first joined Tumblr. This song was my little love letter to them.

Sorry for copping out yesterday and not posting in time with the calender. On the plus side, that means TWO songs today (for anyone keeping track :).
Scala & Kolacny Brothers are probably best known for their contribution to The Social Network soundtrack. Those same voices that were haunting and ethereal while covering Radiohead’s ”Creep” are significantly lighter and sweeter while tackling Wham’s famous holiday contribution. Most covers of this song complicate the arrangement and excise the delicious, smoothness of the original. Not so with Scala! These peeps keep it neat, clean, and delicate.
Their vocals add a whole new layer of appreciation to the lyrics. Try it!
