Entertainment Weekly’s Mark Harris wrote an article for EW about Orson Scott Card (author of Enders Game) and his “decades-long history of antigay public commentary”, and the last half of the article was also about the uproar over Andrew Garfield suggesting Spidey be gay (or rather, that he have a male love-interest).

This is the second half of Spidey’s section of the column and I thought I’d share it with you because it’s fabulous.

Quote
"I was kind of joking, but kind of not joking about MJ. And I was like, ‘What if MJ is a dude?’ Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It’s hardly even groundbreaking!…So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?"

Andrew Garfield thinks it’d be cool if Spider-Man swung a different way. (He also wanted MJ to be played by Michael B. Jordan.)

I would watch the hell out of that…
